A Dancer's Journey
“Ithaka gave you the marvellous journey.
Without her you would not have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
You will have understood by then what these Ithakas mean”.
Excerpt of Ithaka by C. P. Cavafy, 1910
“A Dancer’s Journey” is a unique flamenco show that explores the fusion between Flamenco,
Contemporary dance and Jazz music.
The show is inspired by the poem “Ithaka”, by C.P Cavafy. It is a story about the journey of life,
where the most important thing is not the expected end- point but the journey itself.
With nine sensational internationally renowned artists performing live on stage,
“A Dancer’s Journey” is a dazzling celebration of the beauty of dance and life.
"The whole company deserve praise" Graham Watts, Dance Tabs.
What is Flamenco?
The mission of “The Flamenco London Project”, by Maria Vega, is to bring world-class
flamenco to the U.K audience.
The London Flamenco Project started as a documentary film by cinematographer and
lifestyle photographer Richard Dunkley. The aim was to show how Maria was developing
her new solo show in London but also a 'London Fiesta', a street show where her U.K’s
students showed the passion of Spanish flamenco.
The project was brought to life for the first time in a flash mob organized by the English
National Ballet where Maria collaborated as a choreographer of her Flamenco London
Group. Now the project has become Flamenco Live!, a theatre size live show that is constantly
evolving while touring in the UK.
De Azabache y Plata (Yet black and silver)
The show has resulted from years of work to adapt the rich language of flamenco,
music and dance into a contemporary style. With the reference of the
classical Spanish composers De Azabache y Plata will introduce you to
a new concept of the Spanish tradition. The vibrant music combined
with the pulse of the powerful flamenco dance take this show beyond
borders and labels. Pure Spanish style, strong rhythms and suggestive
choreographies creating a particular language containing aspects of
both classical and contemporary style. A complete joy on stage.
Orquestas en Danza (Orchestras and Spanish Dance)
A show including compositions by some of the great Spanish masters
such as Jerónimo Jiménez, Isaac Albéniz or Manuel de Falla.
The audience is thrilled to see a great orchestra and top Spanish
dancers on the same stage. The Spanish repertoire of classical
music, magnificent in itself, is even more impressive when brought
together with Spanish dance which uses the castanets not only
as an adornment, but as another musical instrument.
Orchestra and dance live on stage, a combination that cannot be matched.
